We’ve been getting questions from realtors as to which app or software is best to use to create real estate content graphics for social media.
Specifically, we’ve come across realtors who have either been around so long that they are accustomed to traditional media or new real estate agents who have no clue where to start.
Personally, I understand how daunting it can be. The idea of creating your own marketing materials without training or help for a property that’s worth hundreds of thousands can be scary.
And if you’re doing it with the goal of winning buyers and increasing the chances of landing new prospects, a bad marketing design can simply backfire!
When you think about it, a prospective buyer might just be the next Facebook user who has come across your business page. Therefore, wouldn’t it be great if your digital footprints captured their attention and evoked a sense of reliability?

Today, we’re here to empower you to NOT feel like designing your own social media content is an impossible task. We now live in an era of limitless resources where life’s necessities can be just one-app-download away!
Digital Real Estate Content Made Easy
Back in the day, you needed to hire a graphic designer to create your property flyers and brochures and have them printed.
Nowadays, there are many apps and software that you can use to make designing social media real estate content much easier and faster.
Really?
Yes! And the best features of DIY apps are first, they’re free for download on Apple/Android stores and second, they have desktop versions. One only needs to give himself time to get around DIY design apps just like they would with any other app but you don’t really need formal training in design to be able to use it.
On a personal note, I only switch using between two apps. I fondly refer to them as “photoshop-for-dummies’—as they’re perfect for anyone who has zero graphic design experience!
Social Media Graphics Apps
Canva
Canva has only been around for less than a decade but has now taken over the world by storm. With Canva, you can upload a gorgeous photo of a property listing or choose from over a million stock images. You can input texts of any size and choose styles from the hundreds of free fonts available. You can fine-tune the details by adding frames, icons, or shapes and play with transparency to get your desired look.
Canva’s interface is fast, easy to use, and extremely intuitive so it appeals to realtors who are not able to devote a ton of time to learning new software.
Adobe Creative Cloud Express
Adobe Creative Cloud Express or Adobe Express is a lot similar to Canva. It boasts the same functionality and user-friendly interface. Moreover, Adobe Express has design templates that you can also use to create graphic designs from logos to videos. With Adobe Express, you can use the resize feature in the free version which means your one design can be resized in one click for your Print Media, Instagram Feed & Stories, Pinterest, or e-mail marketing needs.
Editor’s Choice: Based on personal experience as a non-designer who depends on DIY apps for digital real estate content, Canva knocks it out of the park. By and large, it’s the most organized app with the best editor that makes your workflow simpler and gives an overall better user experience.
Why Realtors Should be Using Canva (Pros and Cons)
The most obvious reason why realtors should use graphic design apps boils down to one thing: TIME.

So creating marketing graphics from scratch just sounds impossible, especially if you have no design background.
And as mentioned, out of the many apps available in the marketplace, Canva is preferred by many over the years to help them design consistently impressive graphics. For realtors, here’s why:
Pros
- App is free for download in the mobile app store
- Free Canva subscription has tons of basic graphic design features
- Fresh and up-to-date stock templates related to real estate
- Option for an upgrade to a PRO version for limitless functionality
- Save designs and reuse them as templates!
Cons
- Can only be used with the Internet
- Can’t create custom graphics from scratch
- Can be limited to use on small screens
