As real estate professionals who are always on the go, it can be challenging to tend to our personal needs during the week. In fact, our job as realtors requires us to clock in work on the weekends leaving our weekly schedules never exactly the same.
That being said, we must be careful not to neglect our self-care routine especially since we put ourselves front and center in our line of work. Every time we step out of our own house and onto other people’s homes, we need to bring our A-game and give out the best impressions.
This is why for us to be consistently great at what we do, we need to ensure that our cups remain full. Because if we don’t, we might risk the feeling of burnout which is more common in this job than one might think.
How to Reset Your Work Life
For many successful and top-producing agents, Sunday is considered a big day for open houses and client follow-ups. In this case, another day during the week is more than okay to do a reset routine.
If you ask me though, I find that no matter what Sunday has in store, it’s still my favorite day to recharge and reflect. This is funny considering as a kid, I used to have Sunday night blues. But as I’ve evolved into a grown woman, not only do I not dread this day, I actually relish Sunday evenings.
Mainly because aside from being able to spend more time with family and friends, a Sunday reset routine has a huge impact on what version of myself I show up with during the week ahead.
Here are some routines for a simple yet effective reset.
- Sleeping in
- Listen to a favorite podcast
- Cook while listening to music
- Tidy the home
- Go for a walk
- Self-care treatment
- Reading a book
- Meditate
- Map out the week
1 – Sleeping in
It’s a blessing to have a routine that allows you to break the routine.
Work can stretch for hours and days depending on the demands of clients, businesses, and not to mention our personal affairs; sleep deprivation is a common occurrence.
Having a day where you break away from the sound of your usual 06:30 AM alarm and lets you catch up on sleep is pure pleasure in the life of a realtor.
2 – Listening to a podcast
Podcasts are a great way to keep yourself informed of the topics that interest you, without requiring your full attention.
Try listening to inspiring podcasts while doing chores, exercising, or while commuting to Sunday brunch.

3 – Cooking while listening to music
It’s nowhere near a perfect Sunday reset without some amazing food involved!
Trust me, our brains need it after a long week of work. Meanwhile, enjoying the food with music naturally helps create a relaxing mood.
Don’t worry if you don’t have refined chopping skills, you can also just order in.
The goal of this routine is to indulge your senses and get a dose of dopamine, therefore, getting your favorite dish or trying new delicacies in your neighborhood will do just fine. The bonus is you get to explore hidden gems in your city that add to your knowledge as a locality expert!
4 – Tidying the home
Tidying the home is one of the best destressing activities you can engage in during the weekends. And don’t just take my word for it; various studies have proven how your space could make you healthier and happier.
If you want to refocus yourself and bring concentration to your work, always look after your physical space. Decluttering allows you to quite literally put things back in perspective that may have otherwise gone sideways over the week.
By tidying up your space, you make some room for new things or ideas that might come your way in the week ahead.

5 – Going for a walk
Getting out and getting some fresh air and sunlight is a form of self-care. Especially if you’ve been working mostly from home or indoors over the week.
Taking the dog out for a walk or choosing to walk to your destination instead of taking the cab can have amazing benefits to your health. And similar to the third item on this list, you may even opt to use this time to circle the block of your neighborhood of expertise!
Walking and appreciating the area that you sell lets you see a different perspective—from that of a dweller and not just as a broker.
6 – Self-care treatment
What’s better than self-grooming sessions on Sundays? Seriously, our beauty rituals come first because we need to look and feel fresh at the start of the new week!

7 – Reading a book

With texts, calls, emails, social media, news, Netflix, and entertainment, the Internet has become synonymous with oxygen by way of humans struggling without it.

So even though e-books exist, nothing beats the feeling of holding a good book in your hands, fully engrossed in between pages. Printed books let you absorb more information due to less distraction brought about by electronic gadgets, which means it can also trigger more of your imagination.
8 – Meditating
While meditation can be an amazing thing to do every day, the extra time you can render on Sundays can awaken every corner of your well-being. Imagine not needing to rush to any meeting or answering emails right away.
It can be good practice to try other types of meditation during Sunday reset as well to make the experience a little more than merely replicating your average routine.
9 – Mapping out your week
Want to know the real power of a perfect Sunday reset routine?
It’s that it allows you to set intentions for the week ahead.
Mapping out your week can result in a perfectly imperfect week that is all but part of this thing we call hustle. Whatever happens, you’ve come prepared. You make it your intention to show up ready to impress those who matter.
Rather than leaving things to dumb luck or complaining at the end of the week that you didn’t accomplish as many things as you’d like, hold yourself accountable by planning your week. The first step in doing so is taking actions that align with your goals.
As a realtor, time is one of your most valuable assets so you must always put it to its best use.
Make your Sunday reset of your mind, body, and soul a priority to help you tackle all aspects of your life with more focus!
